Best Muay Thai gyms in Leeds

Methodology

These ranks are an editorial selection from the Muay Thai Atlas gym file for this city. They are not a mathematical index and they are not a fresh scrape of Google. Every gym below appears in that file. Gyms outside the file were not added.

The same weights were used in every city:

• Muay Thai specialism (30). A programme built around Muay Thai ranks ahead of a general MMA, boxing, karate or jiu-jitsu school that lists Muay Thai as one class among several.
• Coaching pedigree (25). Named head coaches, Thai krus and documented lineages, taken from a gym website or a reputable article. Coaches who were not named on a page reviewed here are not guessed.
• Fight-team evidence (20). Titles, stadiums and results only where a cited page states them.
• Google rating and review volume (15). Copied from the source gym file, last verified 2026-09-28. They were not re-measured for this article.
• Beginner access and published price (10). Kids or beginner classes, and any price printed in the gym file or on a cited page.

A high review count does not by itself outrank a specialist gym with a documented coach. Where a city has fewer than ten gyms with a credible public footprint, the list is shorter.

1. Bad Company Thai Boxing Gym

Area: Bramley

Best for: fighters

Founded in 1993 by Richard Smith, Bad Company is the clearest fight gym in the Leeds file. The about page says eight-time world champion Liam Harrison, a lifelong student, became a co-owner in 2024 with Jay Parker, and that the gym moved into a 12,000 sq ft room in early 2025. Harrison's coach page says he has fought Saenchai, Anuwat Kaewsamrit, Nong O, Saeksan, Muangthai, Singdam and Pakorn, and that his titles include the WBC Muay Thai Diamond belt. The instructor list also names titled coaches Andy Howson, Joe Craven and James France. The gym still publishes children's classes under Richard Smith and a £12 class price in the source file. Published prices in the file are 12/class GBP (Adult Membership 65; Teen Membership (14–17) 55; Children Membership (under 13) 45; Pay As You Go (adult) 12).

2. Muay Thai Kiatphontip

Area: not recorded

Best for: fighters

Jompop Kiatphontip's page says he fought from age 9 in Phatthalung, then at Lumpinee and Rajadamnern for Songchai, retired at 23 with a stated record of 161 fights and 131 wins, and was South Thailand champion and ranked number 1 at Rajadamnern. Simon Chu and Maria Chu are named as the other trainers, both with childhood fight experience described on the trainers page. It is a Thai-led specialist gym. The Google review count is smaller than Bad Company's, which is why it is second rather than first. An area is not recorded in the gym file. Meanwood gym listed as Muay Thai and boxing, with a solid rating and a moderate review count. A coach biography was not confirmed in this pass. Stanningley listing for Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing, with a high rating. The website in the source file is a gallery page, and no coaching biography was confirmed here.
