Muay Thai Leeds is gyms, not a nightly stadium. Bad Company, Unit 1 Waterloo Way, Bramley, LS13 2EF, opened on 6 January 2025. The gym describes more than 12,000 sq ft, two rings and a strength area. Invite-only and members-only sessions are marked on the timetable, and pay-as-you-go must be booked ahead. The West Leeds Dispatch quoted Richard Smith there in November 2025. The University of Leeds society trains at Bad Company on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, about 20 minutes from campus, and at The Edge, Willow Terrace Road, LS2, on Thursday and Saturday.

Kiatphontip, Stamford House, 25 Cross Stamford Street, LS7 1BA, says it won UK Gym of the Year in 2019 and lists kids, beginners, advanced and one-to-one classes. Tigers Gym in Meanwood runs Thai boxing under founder Michelle Sutcliffe, a four-time British Thai boxing champion. Steppin Razor, 1 Meanwood Close, is listed as Steven Deane’s gym after Bad Company (1993–2000). Mike Tobin’s, 3 Stanningley Road, publishes a Muay Thai timetable. Wild Boars opened in Birstall in May and June 2026, with about 30 members reported, and a Meetup group runs a free outdoor Saturday. The university club takes beginners and offers interclub and decision fights.

When to go

Climates to Travel’s 1991–2020 averages call Leeds oceanic. January’s mean is 4.3°C (low 1.3°C, high 7.3°C). July’s mean is 16.7°C (low 11.9°C, high 21.4°C). Rain is about 620 mm a year, near 40 mm in February and March and near 60 mm in August and from October to December. Mid-May to mid-September is the easiest outdoor window in that guide, which also notes 37°C in July 2022 and −16°C in December 2010. Gyms stay open in winter.

Shows are occasional. The university club lists interclubs, decision nights and a Fight Night social. Bad Company’s site has carried WBC Amateur Muay Thai England matchmaking.

What it costs

Bad Company’s adult direct debit is £65 a month for at least six months. Ages 14–17 are £55, under-13s £45, and the strength gym alone is £45. Gold, all-access, is £100 a month on the same terms. Pay-as-you-go on beginners, daytime and children’s classes is £12 or £6. An all-class pass is £20 a day, £50 a week or £90 a month.

Kiatphontip is £60 a month for adults and £40 for kids, with 30 days’ notice. Non-members pay £5 or £10 cash. One-to-one starts at £50 an hour or £30 for half an hour. Tigers is £10 for 75 minutes, and one-to-one from £35 an hour, with no joining fee. University Muay Thai is £30 a year, then £5 at The Edge and £6 at Bad Company, or £30 for ten sessions, or £100 a semester. Kit is provided. Saturday at The Edge is capped at about 30 places. Hypaspist MMA on Lennox Road lists personal training at £40 an hour and includes Muay Thai among its classes.

Trivago’s UK comparison puts a typical Leeds hotel night near £92, usually £50–£174: about £79 in December, £108 in May, and £90 in September 2026 (£59–£145). Where and When averages £87 for a 1-star, £122 for a 3-star, £201 for a 5-star, and about £82 for a hostel (£49–£143).

Where fighters stay

The Edge is on Willow Terrace Road, so a city-centre room covers campus. LS7 is just north: Kiatphontip on Cross Stamford Street, Tigers in Meanwood and Steppin Razor on Meanwood Close. Bramley is west, about 20 minutes by car on the university club’s reckoning, and the club runs a ride-share. Mike Tobin’s is on that west side. Wild Boars is in Birstall, towards Bradford. Sleep beside the gym you will use twice a day.

How to choose a gym

• Match the contract to the trip. £65 at Bad Company means six months. The £90 pass does not. Kiatphontip is £60, or £10 cash as a non-member.
• Ask which hours are open. Fighter sessions at Bad Company are invite-only, and pay-as-you-go must be booked ahead.
• Watch a beginners class. Kiatphontip, Tigers, Bad Company and the university society all publish a way in.
• Ask about kit. The university society lends it at The Edge and at Bad Company.
• If you want a fight, ask which shows the coaches enter. There is no stadium next door.
• Time the 18:00 trip. A centre hotel plus Bramley is the journey that fails.
