Best Muay Thai gyms in Chiang Mai

Editorial ranking of Chiang Mai gyms that appear in the Muay Thai Atlas Thailand gym file. The order is a judgement grounded in the sources under each gym. It is not a calculated score or a star rating.

Methodology

Only gyms in the Atlas Thailand file were eligible. Weights used for the judgement:

1. Stadium and promotion pedigree (30%). Documented Lumpinee, Rajadamnern, Omnoi, Channel 7, K-1, ONE, or equivalent names tied to the gym on a gym page, in an interview, or in a reported review.
2. Named trainer depth (25%). Coaches named on the gym site, in an interview, or in an article.
3. Training structure (20%). A published class design or a described split between fight-team work and group classes.
4. Beginner access (10%). Evidence that adult beginners are actually coached, not only tolerated.
5. Accommodation and long-stay practicality (10%). On-site rooms or a nearby stay product the gym itself describes.
6. Published price (5%). Figures already recorded for the gym. A lower price is not automatically a higher rank.

Google ratings are repeated only when the Atlas file already recorded them. Fight totals that disagree across sources are left as a disagreement, not averaged into a new record.

Best for is one tag: beginners, fighters, fitness, or long-stay.

Top 10

1. Banchamek Gym

Area: Mae Taeng

Best for: fighters

Wikipedia identifies Sombat Banchamek, ring name Buakaw, with Banchamek Gym from 2012 onward. The article's record table, last updated 16 June 2017, lists 286 kickboxing bouts with 245 wins, 25 losses, 14 draws, and 2 no-contests. It records Omnoi featherweight and lightweight titles, the December 2002 Toyota Marathon at 140 lb at Lumpinee, K-1 World MAX titles in 2004 and 2006, the 2010 Shoot Boxing S-Cup, and Thai Fight tournament wins in 2011 and 2012. The gym website gives the training address as Buakaw Village, 5/1 Moo 3, Ban Phaow, Mae Taeng, open Tuesday to Sunday. The Atlas file records on-site accommodation, a 600 baht session, 8000 baht for 15 sessions, and 16000 baht for a month. The rank is Buakaw's documented career and the fact that the gym site still publishes this Mae Taeng address. The Wikipedia table is not a 2026 bout-by-bout update.

2. Manasak Muay Thai

Area: Wat Ket

Best for: fighters

Angela Chang's Muay Ying review (5 September 2025) says Manasak Pinsinchai had already been coaching in Chiang Mai for about a decade, that the gym named after him opened in 2023, and that he has over 300 fights, a Rajadamnern title, and a WMC world title. A Vice interview quotes his own estimate of 295 fights and names Rajadamnern and WMC belts, wins in the M-150 and Channel 3 tournaments, and an Isuzu Cup final. Santai's site reported his 25 May 2019 unanimous decision over Kevin Martinez for the Lion Fight super bantamweight title, from the period before this gym opened. The 2025 review describes on-site private rooms, two-hour group classes led by former professionals, a small Thai fight team training before class, and Lisa Brierly as a champion who runs bookings and day-to-day contact. It also says many customers are beginners and that Manasak himself is more present for fighters with a booked bout. The Atlas file records a 500 baht session and on-site accommodation. The tag is fighters because of the titles and the fight team. Adult beginners are a large part of the class the review describes.

3. Hongthong Muay Thai

Area: Tha Sala

Best for: fighters

MuayThaiAdvisor says twin brothers Joe "Hongthong Noi" and Gen "Hongthong Lek" opened the gym in 2013 after coaching at 13 Coins, 301 Muay Thai, and Team Quest Thailand, and that the teaching is meant to adapt across levels. A 2026 review on topmuaythai.com calls both men Lumpinee champions and states more than 350 professional fights each. That fight total is the review's figure, not a stadium ledger reproduced here. The Atlas file records a 400 baht session, weeks at 2200 to 3300 baht, and 8000 baht for a month, and names both men as trainers and as notable fighters. The rank sits under Banchamek and Manasak because the bout counts depend on a review, while the founding story and the two named head coaches are enough to keep the gym in the fight tier.

4. Santai Muay Thai

Area: San Kamphaeng

Best for: long-stay

The gym site says it takes beginners through professional fighters, describes trainers who have fought at Thailand's main stadiums and ranked at Lumpinee, and offers rooms nearby from fighter rooms to a pool villa. A November 2016 Worldmuay profile named head trainer Kru Phon (Phon Narupai) at about 200 fights, 70 of them at Lumpinee, with 180 wins and a number-two Lumpinee ranking. Those figures are from 2016. They are not restated here as a 2026 record, and the gym's current trainer page was not the source of the name. The Atlas file still lists Kru Phon Narupai, marks accommodation on site, and records a 500 baht session, a 3000 baht week, and 10000 to 12000 baht for a month. The tag is long-stay because the gym itself publishes a range of rooms next to training. Manasak, who once taught here, is ranked under his own gym.

5. Lanna Muay Thai

Area: Saraphi

Best for: long-stay

The Atlas file names Kru Boon, marks accommodation on site, records a Google rating of 4.9, and lists 350 to 400 baht a session and 20000 baht a month, with the site lanna-muaythai.com. The monthly figure is not described in the sources used here as including the room, so it is not treated as a bundled stay price. What is documented is a named trainer, on-site accommodation, a low published session rate, and a high recorded Google rating. A stadium record for Kru Boon was not retrieved in this pass, which is why the gym sits below the camps with published titles and why the tag is long-stay rather than fighters.

6. YOKKAO Training Center Chiang Mai

Area: San Sai

Best for: beginners

The Atlas file names Kru Manop, Kru Kris, Kru Migkey, Kru Poj, Suesat, and Somratsamee, lists a 400 baht session, and points to the Yokkao Chiang Mai contact page. Traveler forums discuss a "Manop" pathway toward Bangkok fights. Those threads are opinion, and no bout record for Kru Manop was retrieved from a gym page or interview in this pass, so they are not used as pedigree. The rank rests on a named staff at a Yokkao centre and a low drop-in. The tag is beginners because the evidence in hand is access and a coaching list, not a verified stadium title.

7. Dang Muay Thai

Area: Old City

Best for: beginners

The Atlas file names Kru Dang, marks accommodation on site, lists a 450 baht session, records a Google rating of 4.9 from 3764 reviews, and gives the site dangmuaythai.com. No stadium title for Kru Dang was retrieved in the pages used for the camps above. The review count is the public signal, and it is far larger than the other Google counts stored for this city in the file. Combined with an old-city address and rooms on site, that is a beginner and short-stay case, not a claim about a Lumpinee ranking.

8. Sit Thaharnaek Muay Thai

Area: Hang Dong

Best for: fighters

The Atlas file names Ajarn Hua (Thaharnaek Chumpaetour) and lists fighters Pech Focus Sit Thaharnaek and Nagrob Sit Thaharnaek. It records no on-site accommodation, a 400 baht session, 700 baht for a day, 2200 baht for a week, and 8000 baht for a month, with the site sitthaharnaekmuaythai.com. The named ajarn and the named fighters are the pedigree available here. A bout-by-bout record for Ajarn Hua was not retrieved, so the gym is in the ten and not in the top three. There is no stay product in the file, which is why the tag is fighters rather than long-stay.

9. Sit-Thailand Muay Thai

Area: Pa Daet

Best for: fighters

The Atlas file names Kru Thailand Pinsinchai, records no on-site accommodation, and lists sessions at 350 to 600 baht, a week at 3000 baht, and a month at 10000 baht. The November 2016 Worldmuay note on the Pinsinchai circle described Thailand Pinsinchai at 220 fights, about 50 of them at Lumpinee, with 160 wins and Lumpinee, Rajadamnern, and Thailand titles. That is a 2016 secondary profile, not a 2026 record confirmation, and it is used only at that strength. The gym stays in the ten because a named coach with a published stadium claim is more evidence than an unnamed room. It sits below camps whose coaches were described on a current gym page.

10. The Camp Muay Thai

Area: Hang Dong

Best for: long-stay

The Atlas file marks accommodation on site, records a Google rating of 4.8, and lists 6500 baht for 10 sessions, 18000 baht for 30 sessions, and 25000 baht for 10 private sessions, with the site thecamp-chiangmai.com. No coach is named in the file, and none was added from an outside page in this pass. The gym closes the ten because a published block of sessions plus rooms is a real long-stay product. It does not outrank a named stadium coach.
