The New York City Muay Thai scene

Muay Thai in New York City is several gyms with addresses, not one camp. Some print a price. A well-known Midtown room does not.

Two Bridges Muay Thai, on the Lower East Side, teaches punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. Unlimited classes within your level are $225 every four weeks, with no contract and no initiation fee. A single class is $30. Five classes are $125. There are no refunds.

Workshop NYC, at 92 Delancey Street, teaches Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu in capped classes and does not rent gloves. A class is $35, an unlimited week is $100, and a one-time unlimited month is $300. Recurring tuition is $250, with a two-month minimum and 30 days' notice.

Evolution Muay Thai is at 213 West 35th Street. The gym says Brandon Levi founded it in 2006 and names UFC and Invicta fighter Angela Hill as an alum. It is members-only: no drop-ins or walk-ins. A trial is by appointment, and the rate is emailed, not posted.

Hit House, at 2 Spring Street, runs 45-minute Muay Thai-influenced bag classes and says it is not a traditional fight gym. A first class is $20. Two weeks unlimited is $89. NYC Parks also lists free Tuesday Muay Thai at Herald Square, 6–7 p.m., for July and September 2026.

When to go

Classes are indoors. National Weather Service normals for Central Park, 1991–2020, put January at an average high of 39.5°F and a low of 27.9°F, and July at 84.9°F and 70.1°F. Precipitation averages 49.52 inches a year. July is the wettest month at 4.60 inches, and February the driest at 3.19 inches. Snowfall averages 29.8 inches, with February the snowiest month at 10.1. Late spring and early fall are the easier months for running.

Tapology lists Warriors Cup 79 for Friday, July 24, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, with 14 Muay Thai bouts. Three Pillar Promotions has posted other 2026 Fridays there, and those calendars have been revised. Confirm the card before you travel.

What it costs

These are printed prices, not a city average. Two Bridges is 13 bills across 52 weeks. Workshop is $250 a month after two months, or $300 bought once. Evolution prints no dues.

Published private hours run from $60 to $300. Legion Muay Thai, 4 Willow Avenue on Staten Island, lists $60 or $100 an hour by coach. Hit House lists $125 for 60 minutes. Coach Mike D, at The Last Round Boxing NYC, lists $175. Renzo Gracie East Side, 1264 Lexington Avenue, lists $150 to $300 for Muay Thai or Brazilian jiu-jitsu, plus tax.

The fiscal 2026 GSA lodging ceiling for New York City, before tax, is $179 in January and February, $281 from March through June, $237 in July and August, and $342 from September through December. Lonely Planet, on July 17, 2026, calls a room under $300 a bargain. It lists Pod 51 in Midtown from $110 and The Ludlow, on the Lower East Side, around $450.

A month is a lease. StreetEasy's May 2026 median asking rent was $4,927 in Manhattan, $3,895 in Brooklyn, and $3,350 in Queens. Realtor.com's second-quarter 2026 citywide median was $3,707. Neither series is the apartment next to a gym.

Where fighters stay

No survey says where fighters stay. The Lower East Side covers Two Bridges and Workshop. Midtown covers Evolution and the Herald Square class. Nolita is Hit House. The Upper East Side is Renzo Gracie East Side. Staten Island is Legion. Queens held the July 24 card. A few nights can be a hotel. A month should be a lease near the gym, not a borough median.

How to choose a gym

• Hit House says it is not a traditional fight gym. Evolution emphasizes competition. Two Bridges describes authentic Muay Thai.
• Two Bridges bills every four weeks. Workshop requires two months. Ask whether sparring is included before you pay.
• Get the coach and the private hour in writing. Printed rates here run from $60 to $300.
• Take the trial. Hit House is $20. Workshop is $35. Evolution is an appointment, not a walk-in.
