The Pattaya Muay Thai scene
Fairtex Training Center, 179/185–212 Moo 5, North Pattaya Road, Naklua, sits inside the Fairtex Hotel opposite Terminal 21. It lists nine full-size rings, bag areas, an air-conditioned Brazilian jiu-jitsu room, a pool, a weights room, a sauna and a visa office. The brand dates from 1971; the gym later moved from Bangkok to Pattaya.
Groups are Monday to Saturday, 07:30–10:00 and 14:30–17:00. New students start at 07:30. A group is five pad rounds, then bag work, with sparring or clinching by level. Tuesday and Saturday boxing sparring is by invitation. Meals are not included; Terminal 21 is across the street.
Battle Conquer Gym, 359, 119 Moo 12, Pratamnak, is open 06:00–22:00 daily. Groups for beginners through experienced fighters are 08:00–10:00 and 16:00–18:00, with weights, a boxing room, a sauna and a cold plunge on the pass. When to go
December to April is dry. May to mid-November is rainy. About 1,110 mm falls in a year, less than on the Andaman coast because much of the monsoon drops further west. September is about 205 mm over 17 days and October about 215 mm over 17 days. June to August still has strong downpours, but averages nearer 95–120 mm a month. Mid-February to May is hottest, with maxima of 34–35°C and minima near 28°C. December to mid-February can dip below 20°C at night. The sea is swimmable every month.
December to mid-February is the most comfortable window. July and August are muggier and sometimes stormy. Cyclones are possible from June to December, more often from September to November.
MAX is nightly. Monday to Friday is five bouts from 19:00 to about 20:45. Saturday and Sunday is four bouts from 19:45 to about 21:00. Doors open about an hour before. The listed seat is VIP at 1,500 baht.
What it costs
These are two published tariffs, not every gym in town. Battle Conquer is 500 baht a class, 2,500 a week and 7,000 a month for two sessions a day plus the gym, sauna and cold plunge. Fairtex is 800 baht a session, 7,000 for ten and 16,500 for unlimited Muay Thai for a month (15,500 a month from three months, 14,500 from six). A training-only month is 7,000–16,500 baht.
A private is 1,200 baht for 90 minutes at Battle Conquer and 1,500 baht for an hour at Fairtex. Fairtex’s one-person deluxe-room month, with unlimited training, runs and the pool, is 46,500 baht. A residence studio, utilities extra, is 13,000–15,000 baht a month. Battle Conquer’s nine-month training block, without a room, is 45,000 baht.
A 27 July 2026 agency guide puts basic studios from about 6,000 baht and luxury beachfront units above 50,000. One-bedrooms run about 8,000–18,000 baht in East Pattaya, 10,000–20,000 in Jomtien, 12,000–22,000 in Naklua and 15,000–30,000 on Pratumnak.
Where fighters stay
Naklua fits Fairtex, which is walkable to Terminal 21 and the North Pattaya bus station. The on-site studio is 13,000–15,000 baht a month before bills. Pratumnak fits Battle Conquer, on the quieter hill between Central Pattaya and Jomtien. Jomtien is the cheaper beach side if you can ride in. East Pattaya starts near 5,000 baht but is inland. Central Pattaya is noisier, with a baht bus towards Sukhumvit and MAX.
How to choose a gym
- Read the month. Battle Conquer’s 7,000 baht is two groups a day plus weights and recovery. Fairtex’s 16,500 baht is unlimited Muay Thai and no room.
- Check the private: 90 minutes at 1,200 baht, or an hour at 1,500 baht.
- A visa letter is not a visa. Fairtex’s listed visa packages are the gym’s fee, not the government charge.
- Bring gloves and wraps, or buy them at Fairtex. In September and October, keep the morning session.
