Methodology

These ranks are an editorial selection from the Muay Thai Atlas gym file for this city. They are not a mathematical index and they are not a fresh scrape of Google. Every gym below appears in that file. Gyms outside the file were not added.

The same weights were used in every city:

• Muay Thai specialism (30). A programme built around Muay Thai ranks ahead of a general MMA, boxing, karate or jiu-jitsu school that lists Muay Thai as one class among several.
• Coaching pedigree (25). Named head coaches, Thai krus and documented lineages, taken from a gym website or a reputable article. Coaches who were not named on a page reviewed here are not guessed.
• Fight-team evidence (20). Titles, stadiums and results only where a cited page states them.
• Google rating and review volume (15). Copied from the source gym file, last verified 2026-09-28. They were not re-measured for this article.
• Beginner access and published price (10). Kids or beginner classes, and any price printed in the gym file or on a cited page.

A high review count does not by itself outrank a specialist gym with a documented coach. Where a city has fewer than ten gyms with a credible public footprint, the list is shorter.

1. Master A Muay Thai

Best for: fighters

Founder Somapat Sitiwatjana, Master A, writes that he arrived in England in 1986 to help his brother Master Toddy coach, that he teaches in Thai and English, and that the Thai government gave him an award in 2002 for services to Muay Thai overseas. The school page says it has run for more than 30 years and has produced UK, European and world champions. Private lessons are listed at £50 an hour. 2. All Powers Gym

Area: Davenport

Best for: fighters

Panicos Yusuf's about page says he founded the Stockport gym in 2011 and is a three-time world champion. The page does not name the belts, so they are not invented here. The gym describes itself as Muay Thai for professional fighters and for people training for fitness, with an explicit welcome for new students. It is a specialist room rather than an MMA franchise. The gym file places it in Davenport. The Google rating copied from that file is 4.8 from 48 reviews. A price is not recorded in the gym file.

The Bury team page says the club has developed champions while helping beginners build confidence, and that the coaches combine competition experience, time in Thailand and decades of teaching. It names Luke Phillips, Lewis George, Jodie Higson, Ryan Shaw, Jae Clarke and Daniel Oxley. Individual records are not on that page. Best for: kids

SRMT publishes a Muay Thai timetable in Broadheath with Marvin Bell on kids and all-levels classes, Ashley Guishard on all-levels classes, and a coach listed as Prince on sparring. The same page says sparring is not compulsory for beginners, runs a kids programme from age 5, and answers a beginner FAQ in plain language. The Newton Heath about page names head coach Kyle Schofield and says he has had over 65 fights. It does not publish a win-loss record, and conflicting third-party databases were not used.
