Ratchawat Muay Thai prices both its Bo Phut and Plai Laem camps on one list. Bophut Muay Thai, at 117 Tambon Bo Put, runs groups at 08:00–09:30 and 17:00–18:30. Superpro Samui, at 48/10 Moo 3, Bo Put, describes itself as near Chaweng. Its classes run Monday to Saturday, 08:00–09:30, with afternoon levels from about 16:30. It has on-site rooms and will help arrange a stadium fight only when trainers say you are ready. A bout is not guaranteed.

Phetchbuncha Boxing Stadium, 21/17 Moo 3, Chaweng–Choeng Mon Road, calls itself the island’s most famous stadium and stages six fights a night. Samui International Muay Thai Stadium is at 3/4 Moo 2, Laem Din Market, behind the lake on Soi Reggae. Its FAQ says cards mix Thai and international fighters and that the number of bouts varies.

When to go

Climates to Travel (1991–2020) shows a hot tropical year. Rain runs from May to mid-January; the drier stretch is mid-January to April. February is driest, at 65 millimetres and four rain days. The northeast monsoon peaks in October (295 millimetres), November (445, the wettest month) and December (265), the reverse of Phuket and Krabi. The table totals 1,995 millimetres.

The guide prefers mid-January to April, and February because it is cooler than March and April. January runs from 24.2°C to 29°C. May’s average high is 32.9°C. July and August can give a dry week, then short showers. The sea stays about 28–30°C.

Phetchbuncha fights Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, 21:00–23:50: online seats 1,500 baht, ringside 2,000, dearer at the counter on busy nights. Samui International fights Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, doors about 20:00, bouts about 21:15 until 22:30–23:00, seats 1,500–3,000 baht. The 3,000 baht premium VIP includes a drink. Under-fives enter free. Thursday is on neither card.

What it costs

Adult group classes are 400 baht at Ratchawat, kit included, 500 at Bophut for ages 11 and over (400 under 11), and from 500 at Superpro. A Ratchawat children’s class is 300 baht.

Ratchawat is 2,000 baht for six single sessions or 3,000 for two a day, then 5,500 or 7,000 for 30 days. Its fighter month is 9,500 baht, and the gym says you keep the purse. Residents pay 3,000 baht a month for one session a day. Bophut lists a week at 2,500 baht and two weeks at 4,500, without a session count. Superpro starts at 2,500 a week and 7,500 a month.

A private hour is 1,000 baht at Ratchawat (9,000 for ten) and from 1,000 at Superpro. Bophut is 800 baht, or 5,250, 7,000 and 14,000 for seven, ten and twenty hours.

A Plai Laem room with unlimited training is 8,000 baht for seven nights, 15,000 for 14 and 18,000 for a month, or 23,000 for the bungalow. Electricity is included under a month, then typically 500–3,000 baht. Numbeo, updated 12 September 2026 from a small sample, some of it estimated, averages a central one-bedroom at 25,207 baht a month (13,000–78,300) and 13,180 outside the centre (8,500–30,000). Budget Your Trip averages a dorm at US$13 (US$6–42) and a hotel at US$157: about 430 and 5,190 baht at that page’s rate of US$76 to 2,510 baht.

Where fighters stay

Bo Phut fits Bophut Muay Thai and Ratchawat’s north-coast camp. Superpro and both stadiums pull you towards Chaweng, which Phetchbuncha calls the most popular place to stay. Plai Laem is the on-site room. Numbeo’s outside-centre figure is an average of reports, not a price for one road.

How to choose a gym

• Price one class, one session a day and two a day. At Ratchawat that is 400, 5,500 and 7,000 baht.
• Ask what a week includes. Ratchawat states six days. Bophut’s week price does not.
• Ratchawat includes kit. Superpro has limited loaners and suggests your own gloves, wraps and shin guards.
• One Ratchawat pass covers both camps, so a Chaweng bed and Plai Laem sessions mean a daily transfer. Superpro does not promise a fight.
