Best Muay Thai gyms in Newcastle

Methodology

These ranks are an editorial selection from the Muay Thai Atlas gym file for this city. They are not a mathematical index and they are not a fresh scrape of Google. Every gym below appears in that file. Gyms outside the file were not added.

The same weights were used in every city:

• Muay Thai specialism (30). A programme built around Muay Thai ranks ahead of a general MMA, boxing, karate or jiu-jitsu school that lists Muay Thai as one class among several.
• Coaching pedigree (25). Named head coaches, Thai krus and documented lineages, taken from a gym website or a reputable article. Coaches who were not named on a page reviewed here are not guessed.
• Fight-team evidence (20). Titles, stadiums and results only where a cited page states them.
• Google rating and review volume (15). Copied from the source gym file, last verified 2026-09-28. They were not re-measured for this article.
• Beginner access and published price (10). Kids or beginner classes, and any price printed in the gym file or on a cited page.

A high review count does not by itself outrank a specialist gym with a documented coach. Where a city has fewer than ten gyms with a credible public footprint, the list is shorter.

1. Northern Kings Gym

Area: Elswick

Best for: fighters

Craig and Linda Jose started the Elswick gym in 2013. The team page calls Craig one of the North East's most decorated Muay Thai and kickboxing fighters and names Superbon and Saiyok among his opponents, without a win-loss record. It also says gym fighters have competed on ONE Championship, Enfusion and Victory. The coaching list includes junior Muay Thai with Jenny Redford. That is the strongest fight evidence in the Newcastle file. The gym file places it in Elswick. The Google rating copied from that file is 5 from 47 reviews. A price is not recorded in the gym file.

2. Sor Thanikul Muay Thai

Area: Byker

Best for: fighters

The Byker site calls itself a club with over 40 years of experience and says previous professional fighters and champions show what the training can lead to. It does not name the current coaches or those champions on the homepage reviewed here, so the claim stays general. The camp name and the longevity statement are why it ranks as a specialist fight club rather than a fitness class. The gym file places it in Byker. The Google rating copied from that file is 5 from 12 reviews. A price is not recorded in the gym file.

Area: Shieldfield

Best for: fitness

Shieldfield gym with a perfect rating. The source file lists Muay Thai and kickboxing with Brazilian jiu-jitsu, MMA and boxing. No Muay Thai head coach was confirmed in this pass. It is the best-documented general combat gym in the city file. The gym file places it in Shieldfield. The Google rating copied from that file is 5 from 40 reviews. 4. Tyneside Muay Thai

Area: Tynemouth

Best for: beginners

Tynemouth listing for Muay Thai and boxing, with a perfect rating and a very small review count. No website or coach biography was in the source file, so the rank is only for a specialist name with a public rating. The gym file places it in Tynemouth. The Google rating copied from that file is 5 from 11 reviews. A price is not recorded in the gym file.

5. ACE MMA Elite Training Centre
